Best N.W.A Songs of All Time!

#10. I’d Rather F#ck You – Am I a complete dumb#ss for saying this is my favorite N.W.A song of all time? I’ve literally spent complete days just vibing out to this track over and over again on a continuous loop… I’ll be the first to admit that “lyrically” this songs leaves a lot to be desired, but that instrumental… God damn this instrumental!… Anyways… If your as big of a fan of this instrumental as I am you should check out the 2pac track titled “Ratha Be Ya N*gga”… That’s another classic hip hop joint right there!…

#09. If It Ain’t Ruff – Who would’ve guessed back in 1988, when the album “Straight Outta Compton” was first released that MC Ren would wind up being the biggest “bust” of the entire N.W.A crew? MC Ren was arguably a “top 5” MC in 1988, and the fact that he “fell off” after N.W.A disbanded was tragic to me. I got a lot of love for the “Villian”, but I cannot ignore the facts… Anyways… MC Ren was given this entire track to do whatever he wanted (similar to what Dr. Dre got on “Express Yourself”), and I would say that MC Ren made the most out of the opportunity…

#08. 8 Ball – Eazy E’s label was named “Ruthless Records” which was kind of fitting since the word “ruthless” was the perfect word to describe Eazy E’s attitude and “rhyme style” in the late 80’s… Eazy did and said whatever he wanted, which I would say was his greatest strength and weakness simultaneously…

#07. Express Yourself – Do you ever think Dr. Dre regretted making this song?…Claiming that you don’t do drugs because you don’t want have “brain damage” is a noble point, but to do a complete “180” on this ideology a few years later wasn’t a “good look” for Dr. Dre IMO… Personally I like this song, but the tone and subject matter weren’t a good “fit” for the “Straight Outta Compton” album… Putting a “commercial record” on the least “commercial album”ever made never made a lot of sense to me…

#06. Alwayz Into Somethin’ – This song was a “sample” of what you could expect from a Dr. Dre solo album in the early 90’s… Dr. Dre was no longer interested in making records reminiscent to “Express Yourself”, instead this “new” incarnation of Dre had a “darker”, and more “grown” tone to his voice. Years of getting screwed out of your “publishing” will do that to you…

#05. Dope Man – This song is off that “N.W.A and the posse” album that predates “Straight Outta Compton”. Does anyone know who or what the “Posse” actual was? We’re they a  musical group, or were they just a bunch of random street dudes that N.W.A rounded up for a picture?… Anyways… Google search “Bad Lucc – Outchea”. That song uses this “Dope Man” instrumental to perfection!…

#04. Gangsta Gangsta – “Gangsta Gangsta” is an often forgotten N.W.A classic! It May be my favorite record off of that whole first album. Ice Cube’s “performance” on this song is the primary driving force of this track…

#03. 100 Miles and Runnin’ – “Don’t call it a come back”… Well actually it kinda was… After Ice Cube had left the group a year prior to this record coming out, many hip hop fans started to question whether or not N.W.A would ever be the same without Cube writing and performing on the songs… Fortunately for N.W.A “100 Miles and Runnin” came out at the perfect time. This song was audio proof that the group still had “it”, and it quieted the negative narrative that was starting to surround the group for the time being…

#02. F#ck The Police –  The song that essentially  birthed “gangsta rap” at number 2? Yeah only in a N.W.A song catalog would a song of this caliber be put at number 2. “F#ck the Police” might be the most “important” hip hop record every written and yet it’s number 2 on this list. Pretty crazy huh?…

#01. #01. N.W.A – Straight Outta Compton – “Straight Outta Compton” should on everyone’s “10 best hip hop songs of all time” list! It has Ice Cubes most “iconic” rap verse’s on it!  Everything about this song is hella classic! What more can I say?… The End…
