Best Ice Cube’s Songs of All Time!

#25. Bop Gun (One Nation) – This record is more of an “anthem”, then an actual song IMO. There’s been a few examples of this happening in hip hop before (songs that “drift” past the 7 minute mark). “Spottieottiedopaliscious” from Outkast comes to mind… On a different note, can anyone actual spell “Spottieottiedopaliscious” without googling it? I bet you that those 12 year old Chinese kids in that “National Spelling Bee” wouldn’t be able to spell that sh*t. They would probably ask for the “origin”, and the spelling bee judge would be like the “Atlanta Dungeon”, and then the little Chinese kid would be like “use it in a sentence”, and the spelling bee judge would be like… (This could last for a whole page, so ill just stop now)…

#24. Ghetto Vet – One of the things that I’ve always respected about Cube’s music is his willingness to “highlight” the many “pitfall’s” of the life in the ghetto, so that hopefully the youth of America can learn from his message’s and rise above it. “Ghetto Vet”, “Lil Ass Gee”, “Hood Mentality”, are all great examples of Ice Cube explaining that all that “hood sh*t” isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be…

#23. Endangered Species (Tales from the Darkside) (remix) ft. Chuck D – Remember when Ice Cube use to be a “conscious” rapper and rhyme like Common Sense?… Once he made “5  mill” he hasn’t “been rhyming like Common sense”… You like that? I just made that sh*t up right now off the top of the dome. I’m super creative like that… (*Cough*… “Moment of Clarity”… That’s just in case Jay-Z tries to sue me… He’s so money hungry  that that’s not outside of the realm of possibilities)…

#22. Wicked – Ice Cube and P.E. were tight in the early nineties. I’m not sure why their relationship has been nonexistent since then though… I don’t know why this is, but I feel like Flava Flav is probably the one who is  responsible. I have no “inside information”, but from a purely “logical” standpoint it was probably his fault… He wore a freaking full sized clock around his neck! What more “proof” do you?…

#21. Pushin’ Weight ft. Mr. Shokhop – “The Don Mega” is the best nickname in hip hop history! #FACTS…

#20. Westside Connection – Gangsta Nation ft. Nate Dogg- Personally… I love this track! Right when people were starting to think that Ice Cube was done dropping “bangers”, he drops this west coast “gem” on em. I am born/raised/living in California, and this joint is a classic over here boi!!!…

#19. N.W.A – Hello – I started these hip hop lists, and this is the mothaf#ckin thanks I get?… Okay i didn’t invent the whole hip hop list thing, but I was definitely the first person to use “quotations” after every three words. That’s gotta be worth something, right?…

#18. Steady Mobbin’ – The bigger the cap, the bigger the peelin“… Need I say more?…

#17. Amerikkka’s Most Wanted – “Amerikkka’s Most Wanted” is my favorite Ice Cube album of all time! It would easily fit into a “top 25 hip hop albums of all time” list if I were to make one (I’m sure I will). I really can’t think of a better “socially conscious” album that’s ever been made. “It Takes A Nation of Million’s to Hold Us Back” from Public Enemy is am serious contender, but I think I would still choose “Amerikkka’s Most” over that album…

#16. You Can Do It ft. Mac 10 – “Lyrically” not the most complex song Ice Cube has ever written, but you can’t deny that this record is “catchy” as hell. Lil Kim’s career in the late 90’s was on fire… Wait?… What!…This isn’t Lil Kim on this song?… How?… is that possible?… I’m confused AF right now bruh???…

#15. N.W.A – Dope Man –  This song is off that “N.W.A and the posse” album that predates “Straight Outta Compton”. Does anyone know who or what the “Posse” actual was? We’re they a  musical group, or were they just a bunch of random street dudes that N.W.A rounded up for a picture?… Anyways… Google search “Bad Lucc – Outchea”. That song uses this “Dope Man” instrumental to perfection!…

#14. Why We Thugs – The instrumental on this song is vicious! Very reminiscent of something Dr. Dre would’ve produced during that same 2000’s time period…

#13. A Bird In the Hand – I always forget how short this song is. 2 minutes and 17 seconds is nothing in comparison to the original Bop Gun (over 11 minutes long), but the lyricism and message is so tight (in the literal sense) that it would be impossible for this song not to be put high on this list…

#12. Westside Connection – King of the Hill – Easily my favorite Ice Cube diss track of all time. “No Vaseline” is a classic but it’s not a very “fun” song to listen too, if that makes sense. It’s one of those tracks that everyone respects and acknowledges as being great, but no one really wants to listen to it during their free time… King of the hill on the other hand is just f#cking dope! There isn’t a more delicate way to phrase it… F#cking DOPE!…

#11. Westside Connection – Bow Down – How many groups has Ice Cube been a part of? There was “N.W.A”… and then “Da Lench Mob”… Oh and there was “Westside Connection”… and there was some rap group called “C.I.A”… (I’m clearly “googling” right now) moving on…

#10. Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It –  Ice Cube’s discography was super inconsistent during the 2000’s. Most of the albums he put out then were “one hit” albums at best. The only other “legendary” MC with a more inconsistent 2000’s discography then Cube would be LL Cool J. Past that no one else really comes to mind…

#09. The N*gga Ya Love to Hate – “Hiphopwontstop the blog y’all love to hate”…  Quick lesson to the kids out there. People will “hate” on anyone who is trying to do something outside of the “norm”. People would rather see you tattoo “thug life” on stomach and die by gunfire (Tupac), then to see you living a long  enriched life (Jay-Z)… Stop me when I stop speaking the truth…

#08. You Know How We Do It – If I just left one of these songs “blank”, do you think anyone would notice? Probably, although I essentially just did “that” right now by not writing anything of substance. Oh well…

#07. Check Yo Self (Radio Remix) ft. Das EFX –

[Mase] Yo turn me up in the headphones…

[female voice] Like that?

[Mase] Yeah…

Oh wait… That’s a different song altogether…

#06. N.W.A – Gangsta Gangsta – “Gangsta Gangsta” is an often forgotten N.W.A classic! It May be my favorite record off of that whole first album. Ice Cube’s “performance” on this song is the primary driving force of this track…

#05. Once Upon a Time in the Projects – Ice Cube is in the top 5 rap “story teller’s” of all time category. Who else is in that category? Slick Rick… Nas… Andre 3000… and maybe Biggie? I’m just “freestyling” right now. I’m sure I forgot to mention some vital people who also deserve a mention…

#04. N.W.A – Fuck Tha Police – The song that essentially  birthed “gangsta rap” at number 4? Yeah… Ice Cube’s song catalog is ridiculous!…

#03. No Vaseline – A “top 3” hip hop diss song of all time! That’s certainly worth a “top 3” spot on this list, don’t ya think?…

#02. It Was a Good Day – This is the song that most “defines” Ice Cubes solo career. The G funk vibe on this track is stellar! Listening to this song  makes me wanna just kick back and drank a “40”. Then right after go and do all of that other stereotypical fun stuff that goes along with it (smoking weed, dog fighting, robbing old ladies) you know what i’m talking about…

#01. N.W.A – Straight Outta Compton – “Straight Outta Compton” should on everyone’s “10 best hip hop songs of all time” list! It has Ice Cubes most “iconic” rap verse’s on it!  Everything about this song is hella classic! What more can I say?… The End…
